COOKSON UNITED METHODIST

"Jesus Knows" was the title of Pastor Rudy Freese' message last Sunday.  IGNITE 12:29 first service was a blessing to the forty nine people that attended.  Jesus Christ knows that it will continue to bless numerous souls that are seeking a personal relationship with him.  Everyone is invited to come as you are from wherever you are to Cookson United Methodist Church.  This worship service is geared to the younger generation. It includes high energy current praise songs, videos and the same message as the earlier services.  The purpose is to transform people into disciples so that they have a burning passion for God which compels them to go out and transform the world.

Scripture readings were Psalm 139:1-6,13-18 and John 1:43-51.  During children's sharing, Pastor Rudy asked the children if they ever had something so exciting that they wanted to tell others about it.  Pastor Rudy told them that he was excited when he found Jesus.  Now he loves to share and tell others about Jesus Christ.  Pastor Rudy began his message with showing several  "How to _____ for Dummies" books.  John 1:43-51 is the "How to Evangelize" word.  Jesus finds Philip.  God seeks us to have a relationship with him.  God wants us to come home. Jesus asked Philip, "Follow me."  Philip then finds Nathanael inviting him to come and see. In verse 49, Nathanael declared, "Rabbi, you are the Son of God; you are the King of Israel."  Philip died in the service of the Lord.  We start out excited to share the good news then we run into that one person that is angry with God.

Evangelism is not easy.  Fear, TV, and social life can keep us from evangelism.  We are to introduce Christ then God does the work.  We all have unchurched friends.  Some will reject your offer of Christ.  Live a life of witness so that others see Christ.  Pastor Rudy passed out a handout for everyone to help share the good news.  Matthew 28: 19-20 tells us to go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.  Invite your friends to accept Christ. Pray and then ask them the last question, " Are you here with man or here with Christ?" Leave the answer hanging. Invite them to church.  Share your excitement to a lost and hurting world. Prayers are that God will give us the boldness to share the light!

The Justin Graves Band will be live in concert this Sunday January 22 at 7:00 pm in the Cookson United Methodist Church.  It is located on the corner of Highway 82 south and Cookson Bend Rd.  This band travels all over the United States.  Their home is in San Antonio TX.  Everyone is invited to this family night of praise.

The Muskogee District Leaders workshop will also be this Sunday.  Several members will be blessed by these workshops bringing back new information for church leaders growth.
